This dedicated guitar/bass tuner lets you select either Guitar mode or Bass mode for truly easy operation with automatically detected pitch. The wide detection range supports 7-string guitar (7B through 1E) in Guitar mode, and 6-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C) in Bass mode. A high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars. Ultra-compact Body with a "Tilt Slit"
Although the GA-30 is small, thin, and light, don't let its pocket-sized body fool you. The GA-30 can accurately tune any guitar or bass. From studio to stage, tuning is easy and convenient. The back of the unit includes a unique arc-shaped "tilt slit" that lets you insert a plastic card for use as a handy stand. High-Precision LCD Meter
The meter section uses a LCD needle, combining the accuracy of an LCD with the easy visibility of a needle, and providing a stable display. Additional visual feedback is provided by LEDs that indicate pitch deviation. Sound Out--Internal Speaker Provides a Reference Pitch
In addition to visual tuning via meter, the GA-30 can play reference pitches from its internal speaker (Sound Out) for tuning by ear. Each press of the Sound switch will cycle the output sound through 7B->6E->5A->4D->3G->2B->1E in Guitar mode, or LB->4E->3A->2D->1G->HC in Bass mode. Quinta Flat Tuning mode--a World-Wide First!
The GA-30's Quinta Flat Tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. Until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the GA-30 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars. If you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the Auto Power Off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption. Approximately 100 hours of continuous use

The Korg-30 has been discontinued and is being replaced with Korg-1, you only finds this out when you receive your Shipment. At the time I bought mine it was selling for 18.18, amazon was selling the korg-1 for a little over 8 dollars and eligible for free shipping. It's been raised since. The seller did refund me, but just 7 dollars. It looks like another seller is using the same advertisment,and reviews for this item. This is just a warning to verify that you get the best price on the item.

I've had this tuner for over seven years and I haven't had to change the battery once. The tuning is very accurate and can help you tune your guitar in seconds. It has a small mic that that plays the sound of each string and lets you drop the note, it holds the note until you stop it. It doesn't just tune your guitar to standard tuning! It lets you drop it to a C or whatever tune you like. This tuner is a great addition to any band because it lets you tune your bass and guitar no matter what kind of guitar it is classical, electric or steel string guitar. Worth it! You won't regret this purchase. This tuner is ideal for anyone who experiments with sounds and can be used for any music style. You can plug your guitar chord directly into the tuner's input. It has a slot for a wrist band in case you want it to hang anywhere. It has a "Sound" button that plays notes, it has a "Flat" button that changes the notes and a "Guitar/Bass" button that lets you chose what instrument you want to tune. Easy to use, light weight and it's the size of a deck of cards. Korg made a good tuner, it doesn't have a metronome. Hope you find this helpful.

I had been using an old Arion tuner that I got maybe 20 years ago for next to nothing. The guy at the music store said he couldn't sell if he wanted to, them because no one wants a tuner that takes four size "N" batteries. I had an AC adapter that fit it so for the couple bucks he was asking, it was a deal.
Then, a few weeks back I was trying out a guitar in a music store, when the sales guy ran over to tune it real quick. He sets this Korg GA-30 on top of a nearby amp and played an unplugged electric near it and the thing worked like a charm, just using built-in mic.
I bought one a few days later and couldn't believe the improvement. I can tune my acoustic in just seconds. It might not be the most expensive, sensitive, or stylish tuner out there, but it's small, takes two AAA batteries (included!) and fits in the guitar case with ease.
And the red and green LED indicators are nice for low light situations.
HIGHLY recommended.

Using LCD instead of a true needle saved batteries (uses 2 AAA). Easy to use and read. I only have been using the microphone option and it has been very accurate! I see no reason to spend more on a tuner unless you want one with a built in light.

that thing is great, i DID'T get the kong GA-30 which they told me that they replaced it with GA-1 which is way better than the first one and i also got it in black which is better than the gray one and It so easy to use too.
