Product Description
Regular Size Rosewood Chanter decorated with polished aluminum ferrule with an imitation ivory mouthpiece and sole. Includes a synthetic reed made in Scotland and the The Great Highland Bagpipes Tutor book and CD by Pipe Major Cherry. The book and CD closely follow each other, instructing you on notes, songs and tuning. The CD includes a Bonus of 30 minutes of video tutoring for your PC or MAC. Why buy a chanter kit? First, a practice chanter is not a part of the bagpipes, although a set of bagpipes does have a chanter. The practice chanter condenses the complexity of a fullsize set of bagpipes (no bag, no drones = less air). Purchasing a practice chanter should be the first step in one's preparation to learn the bagpipes. This kit includes everything you will need to get started. The next step is buying a set of bagpipes. TRACK LISTING 1-14) The CD Covers the methods of playing the bagpipes, starting with a finger/note diagram to complex music reading, to songs shown and more. 15) Amazing Grace 16) Mairi's Wedding 17) Barren Rocks Of Aden 18) Highland Laddie 19) Teribus 20) The Battle's O'er 21) Grenn Hills Of Tyrol 22) Scotland the Brave 23) Farewell To the Creeks 24) Wi' A Hundred Pipers 25) The Atholl Highlanders March 26) 79th's Farewell To Gibraltar 27) Loudons Bonnie Woods & Braes 28) The Marquis Of Huntley 29) The Jolly Beggarman 30) Paddys Leather Breeches 31) Piper Of Drumond 32) High Road To Linton Listen to the scale from the CD here: http://www.ethnicsounds.com/sounds/Scale.rm

The book and cd were good, but the chanter was as bad a a duck call. I later ordered a brand name chanter and got a good sound.

1 out of 5 stars Watch out for these guys   April 4, 2010

Watch out for these guys if you have a P.O. Box. They ask for a shipping address then get you to pay for more shipping double the original shipping cost. If you were charged $4.00 for the "shipping" you will be asked for $8.00 later. I know Gibson is a good company, and they make their reeds, but with practices like this I wonder how bad the rest of the parts are for the instrument.
